Upstate New York was a beautiful place to grow up and I never imagined myself living anywhere else. That was, until the
winter of my senior year of high school, when a "lovely" ice storm hit. The second my power returned and I read my acceptance
e-mail from the University of Tampa, I realized my life was about to get a little bit sunnier. It didn't take much to
persuade my family to follow me down and after a year in Tampa I transferred to FGCU to be closer to our new home. While
at FGCU I had a hard time honing in on what exactly I wanted to do with my life. That age old question of “what do you
want to be when you grow up?” was haunting me! I decided to take some time away from class to ‘save up some
money’ and try and find the answer.

At the time it seemed like the worst possible idea to take a break from school, but it brought about some of the most
precious moments in my life. While working, I met my Fiancé, Michael and last June we welcomed our beautiful son into the
world. He has rejuvenated my life and there is nothing I wouldn’t do to provide him with a healthy, happy and
fulfilling future. It is in raising my own child that I have come to realize that my true passion
is working with children. Watching a child learn something new for the first time is truly amazing and to
be a teacher would give me endless opportunity for that. So now I am enrolled at Edison, pursuing my bachelor’s
degree in Elementary Education and I am so very excited to get it started!

When I’m not busy with school work and mommy duty, I enjoy spending time at the beach or splashing in the pool
with my boys. My fiancé and I are getting married in January 2009, so I am also busy planning our wedding. It
is a very exciting time, but stressful too. Jennifer Lopez made it look so much easier in “The Wedding Planner”.
If I have any spare time, you can usually find me in my art studio (a fancy word for our back porch). I love oil painting
and working with other media to create fun pieces of artwork for my family and friends. Hopefully someday soon I can
incorporate my love of art into my very own classroom full of eager students!
